You've seen this ingredient listed in several hair and body products but just not sure what it is, or how to pronounce it even.
Jojoba (pronounced -- hah-ho-bah) is an excellent moisturizer, penetrating deeply into the skin. It is both non-greasy and nutritive, and here are some reasons why...
1. Mineral Rich - jojoba oil contains iodine (which is attributed to giving it it's anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties), vitamin E, vitamin B complex, copper, zinc and more. It also helps stimulate the body's natural collagen production.
2. Moisturizing -- because jojoba closely resembles your skin's natural oils (a.k.a. sebum), it moisturizes without clogging pores. Its rich moisturizing properties can be attributed to the fact that the oil comes from the jojoba nut and is naturally grown as a wax but melted in oil form.
3. Skin and Hair -- jojoba's anti-inflammatory properties makes it great for skin, which is right in line with its historical uses -- treating skin infections and injuries. Thanks to its rich moisturizing properties, jojoba oil helps lubricate hair, helping to repair damage and split ends. Because it's non-pore clogging, this oil also nourishes the scalp and helps add shine.
4. Eye Makeup Remover -- waterproof makeup removal just got easier when you rub jojoba oil across over your eyelid. Try pouring a dab of jojoba oil onto a cotton swap or Q-tip and wipe away hard-to-remove waterproof makeup with ease.
5. Sunburn Reliever -- this oil helps soothe skin from sunburn, flaking and heat rashes. Gently rub the oil into your irritated skin and enjoy soothing relief.
